Afternoon Monday in Lisbon

I left Prazeres Cemetery and hopped on the next tram that came by, I rode it along before hopping off at Estrela Gardens and sitting at the cafe in the park enjoying a drink and a snack.  The pond by the cafe was filled with turtles and ducks. The tranquil atmosphere was lovely and I should have wandered further into the park but decided not to.

Getting another tram, I headed for Alfama. The neighbourhood that kept drawing me back day after day. The weather in Lisbon was beautiful and I happily strolled through this neighbourhood once more. I was seeking out the gelato place I had gone to with my tour on Saturday but did not know where it was or its name. Unable to find it, I wandered past the castle and back down to my hostel for the night.

Turns out if I had just gone through the big gate the white van is driving through and turned right I would have found the delicious gelato place. Gelataria Portuguesa, Rua Sta. Cruz do Castelo, 15, 15A.

After I got back to my hostel I pulled out the chorizo and cheeses I had purchased at the market and chopped them up to make myself a little feast.

Parque del Buen Retiro

One of my favourite stops in Madrid is Buen Retiro Park. Jess and I stopped here to have a picnic lunch and have a wander through the gardens. The weather was fantastic with blue skies and a bit of cloud.

The park is one of the largest parks in Madrid and originally belonged to the Spanish Monarchy until the 19th Century.

Barcelona! Park Guell!

Again the weather was not on our side in Barcelona. We wanted blue skies and sun and we got grey skies and no sun. With promises that it would clear up later in the day we headed to Park Guell. It's quite easy to access from both Vallcarca and Lesseps metro stops then a short walk. We went with Vallcarca which offers outdoor escalators to aid you in getting to the park.

Finding Sefton Park

I had heard tales of Sefton Park. I had heard it whispered in dark corners and shouted high across mountains. Well, no I had actually just heard it from my roommates as being a really nice park. I thought I had passed it on my way to the Brookhouse but I was wrong. That was not Sefton Park, that was just a park. One thing I am finding out about Liverpool is that they like their parks and they will put one just about anywhere. I only learned a few days ago that my street is not full of houses, you walk down it and bam no more houses but a nice walking path! Well, I'll talk about that another time.  Let's discover Sefton Park together.
