Lazy in Liverpool

Hello everyone. There hasn't been much to post about because I've just been enjoying Liverpool. I've watched Liverpool beat Sunderland 2-1 on Wednesday and had a house viewing in Mossley Hill.  We've had some relaxing days in and a very fun night out last night. Today we are going to the pub and watching Liverpool play Spurs.

I'll post a few photos that I hope I haven't posted already. ;)

Crosby Beach and Liverpool 2

March 26th we headed out to Crosby Beach on the bus. Crosby Beach is north of Liverpool and the bus ride there was not too long and was nice to see more of the area surrounding Liverpool.

Liverpool 1

Manchester had been a lot of fun the past 3 days but I was super excited to be heading to Liverpool to stay with my friend Jamie. She had come to Canada and stayed with me for almost two weeks in September. I packed up my bag and headed for the bus station. Arriving early, I decided to waste some time by filling my belly with some yummy breakfast and headed over to the Yates's that is by the station.

Manchester Day 3

Today was a glorious day! I was in a really great mood and headed through Picadilly towards Manchester Cathedral. I headed inside and had a wander through the nice cathedral before popping back outside to go and find the National Football Museum.

Manchester 1 and 2.

My three days in Manchester have been very enjoyable. I am going to combine the first two days into one post versus doing three separate posts. Lots of photos. I arrived in Manchester on Saturday around noon after catching the 5:40 am bus out of Cardiff. I slept on the bus mostly. I'm getting pretty good at that. The sun was shining when I arrived and I was happy to walk the short few blocks to my hostel. I was too early to check in but they allowed me to store my bag and head out to explore Manchester.

Cardiff Day 2

I wasn't planning on spending a second day in Cardiff. I'm not actually sure what I expected. I guess I was hoping Gandalf's eagles would come and whisk me off and drop me on top of Mount Snowdon's peak. My plan had been to stay in Cardiff then head up through Wales to Mount Snowdon and climb the darn thing. No such luck without costing me a small fortune. I booked three days in Manchester and a bus ticket instead.

Anyways, here is what I did on my second day in Cardiff.

Goodbye London, Hello Cardiff.

March 20
I woke up bright and early and checked out of my hostel. I headed for the bus stop on the other side of the British Museum and took the number 73 to Victoria Station. Walking to the bus stop was quiet, a few cars here and there and occasionally someone walking/running by on their way to work.

London Day 3

Before there was public transit people everywhere were forced to walk to all the places they wanted to go. (In this scenario horses and bicycles do not exist.) It seems I'm very stubborn and force myself to walk all the great distances rather than part with the money it costs to take public transit. Above is the map of where I walked to on March 19th on my 3rd and last full day in London. From the British Museum to the Monument to the Great Fire of London.

London Day 2.

I just finished attempting to drink tea with salt in it. Took a sip and realized the big jar of what I thought was sugar was actually salt. Disgusting!! Do not want! Going to scrap that idea of a cuppa for now.

London Day 2! It started with a heathy meal of some toast and jam swallowed down with some orange liquid that might possibly have been Tang? Very weak juice nonetheless. After breakfast I packed up my day pack and headed out on a walkabout. The plan was to wander around and eventually end up at Covent Garden at 11 am for my walking tour.

I'm up, up and away...

London! London! London!

I'm on my way to you. I made it through security and am now sitting in the airport, taking deep breaths and preparing myself for the journey ahead. I cannot believe this day has finally arrived. It still feels like it should be a million days away. I cannot believe the support that I have had either. Everyone around me from family to friends to complete strangers has wished me well on my journey. They want me to do this. They want me to explore. I am going to. I am going to make friends. Travel to new countries. The list is endless but most of all I am going to be brave. This is my adventure. I hope you all enjoy it and follow along. Your support means everything to me.

Until we meet again.

Sorry for the delay...

All I've been doing for the past few days is eating and
celebrating me.

Important packing day before we head to Seattle tomorrow. Last day in Canada. It's real.

A day at the market.

Sunday the 9th

Today was the last day to spend with Chris. He's headed back to Victoria and then in a few months he'll be moving to Toronto. Our hearts will be closer though the kilometers will still be long between us. It was so nice to have him over the weekend. I have known him since I was eight. He's the same age as my sister and they became best friends and have not parted since. He was part of my sister's wedding party in August. Over the years we have stayed close and I am going to miss him a lot. I hope he is able to find a hot redhead in Toronto.

We slept in a while, still tired from the party the night before finally managing to wake up enough to head to Granville Island Market to explore and have lunch.

A Long-Expected Party

Saturday, saturday! It was the day of my birthday/going away party. I was very excited knowing that I was going to celebrate me! I never thought that I would ever come to know so many amazing people and that they would like me as a friend. I still pinch myself that I am so luckty to be friends with all of them.

What does one do on the day of their birthday/going away party? They get their nails did and eat loads of Mexican food of course!

It's Perogie day! Perogie Day!

It seems like this is becoming a food blog but I promise that as soon as I am out of Vancouver you will see my adventures travelling around Europe as well as photos of all the amazing food I will be putting inside my mouth.

Friday morning was a great morning as it was PEROGIE DAY! If you have read through my blog you would have seen that perogie day is a day that happens once a month on the first Friday, hosted by the Ukranian Church on 10th Avenue in East Vancouver. It is a massive perogie dinner with all the fixings and has been a monthly event for me for the past few months. A gathering of friends over good food is always a happy time for me.

Cakes and Chongqing: A Feast

March 6th

Shawn had a few doctor's appointments in the morning and afternoon so we spent a bit of time waiting for those to be finished. All was well. We arrived early downtown on Davie for one of them so we were able to go into Transylvania Traditions, one of my favourite cake shops and get a slice each.

A Happy Wednesday

 March 5

Shawn had her drivers test this morning and she passed! Now she has her class five! Mom and I were both so happy for her.  She stomped her N on the ground. Happy to get rid of it finally.

The wind is rising. We must try to live.

March 4th,
The day started with gloomy conditions. It seems like rain is determined on causing grey skies for my weeks off. Is it trying to tell me something?

A busy beginning...

The end of February was a very busy time. I had my last day of work for Staples and we enjoyed an amazing pot luck of some of my favourite foods. We enjoyed the feast and it was hard to go back to work but the last few hours went by quickly and soon the last shift was over. I clocked out, said my goodbyes to my coworkers and handed over my fob and key. I headed out of the parking lot and I did not look back.
