A Friday unlike other Fridays before it.

I have been sick for the past week. I don't know what happened but I caught something and struggled with it. I took two days off work to recover. I have recovered with flying colours. I think it had something to do with the four litres of orange juice I drank.

Fully rested up, I joined my coworkers Beth, Michelle, Jess and Chartrelle for a girl's night. I had some time to spare before I met up with them so I walked around Beth's neighborhood and took a few photos.

Once the girls arrived they gave me my going away present from them. The pair of Toms I had wanted. I had gone shopping last weekend with Jess and tried them on and made note of which ones I wanted so that I could request Shawn to buy them or my mom. Surprise, they got them for me. I was very happy to receive them. A very generous gift from my bestest work buddies.

We walked Beth's dog Camille up Main St to the banks before walking back to Beth's to drop Camille off. I really enjoy walking along Main St as there are a lot of very cool shops. I think if I had a shopping spree and a bottomless stomach I would spend it on Main St.  There are tons of really good restaurants and I am jealous of the proximity Beth has to it.

Our destination of the night is one of my favourite restaurants East is East.  I've been to their new location several times as well as their smaller location a few blocks down. The restaurant itself is very lovely with lots of stones that are back lit providing a nice atmosphere. They do live music later on in the night and the place is always very busy.

I had the feast which is $27 dollars but you get to try their entire menu and eat as much as you like until you are fit to burst. The portions are smaller so it gives you a good taste and you don't fill up instantly and can't order more. I had the feast the very first time I went to East is East and as its on my list of restaurants I have to eat at before I leave I knew I had to try the feast again. I did not regret it.

I enjoyed the Quinoa Tabouli salad, mystic soup, lamb kebab, chicken masala, boulani, wild salmon, afghan eggplant and the vegetarian kebab. So good all of it.

I also had the Pirate Chai to drink which is Chai with rum and other goodness in it. A few others at the table had the Moon Chain which was also very tasty with Bailey's in it.

We let Jon join us ladies cause he's a nice guy and we know how much he loves East is East.

We waddled back to Beth's slowly. Taking in the buildings of Main St. Saying Goodbye to Jon so that we could continue our girl's night in fashion.

This is one messed up house.

We got back to Beth's house and we enjoyed Earnest Ice Cream which is a delicious ice cream from a small shop on Fraser St. I had heard good things but had yet to try it and I was not disappointed. The Salted Caramel was so good! I probably could have done some damage with it if I hadn't still been so full from my feast.

We had some really good conversations that night, lots of laughs and we enjoyed playing Cranium and another fun game that Beth owns called Anomia. I wasn't very good at the very first time we played it but the second time around I got a lot better at it.  This is the description from their website. "Anomia is simple.  Players flip cards in turn until the symbols on two players’ cards match.  Matching players must race to give an example of the category on their opponent’s card. Whoever blurts out a correct answer first wins their opponent’s card, and drawing continues.  Sounds easy, right?  Think again!  Wild cards create unexpected matches, and face-offs can cascade when you lose a card, revealing a new match.  Pay attention - it could be your turn at any time!"

I ended up getting home at midnight. Such a fun night. I'm really going to miss these girls.

    1. The roti rolls are too die for! Highly recommend. Around $13 for one but only like $3 for another. One of my faves!

I have not seen East is East. Is it the one from 1999? I'll have to check it out.

I never got a photo of my Toms that night as I was wearing boots as it was cold out but will take a photo when the weather stops being a jerk.
