A heart is a heavy burden.

A lovely day off work meant sleeping in. Well as much as I could with my cat Ricky meowing at me to wake up and give him the attention he was craving. It did not seem to help much but I was able to sleep a bit longer.

Waking up, I relaxed for a while before popping to the grocery store for some chorizo sausage. While I was there Jon reminded me that I was to meet him and his lovely girlfriend Whitney for brunch. Popping home, I dropped off my groceries and headed to meet them for food. Picking them up after having to circle back our original plan was to go to Slickity Jim's Chat N' Chew on Main Street but we saw the line outside and decided to try somewhere else. After parking on Commercial we chose to go to Havanas after a bit of a menu mix up at Fet's Whiskey Kitchen. We had to wait but it was worth it.

I had the delicious savoury chicken and waffles. With it I had a chai tea latte. I was in heaven. This was Jon and Whitney's treat for me for looking after their cat Fitz.

Dragging Whitney home with me I showed her a few youtube videos mostly Ze Frank and Casey Neistat. When Whitney had left, I got to cooking a delicious sweet potato and chorizo skillet to bring for lunches. It's usually so delicious so I had to keep myself from eating any as I was to meet with my sister for dinner on Commercial drive.

The sunset tonight was lovely. I drove over to the drive to meet my sister for supper and to go see Howl's Moving Castle at the Rio Theatre. It was amazing. They have been showing a few different Hayao Miyazaki films and I wish I could go to all of them. I really enjoyed watching the film. I'll be listening to the soundtrack on youtube.

All in all a very good day.

One Month

Since arriving back into Canada on April 11th, I spent a week up in my home town of Powell River enjoying the company of family and old friends. The weather was amazing and as always the adventure to get to Powell River was beautiful. Two ferries along the coast and a long winding drive down the peninsula with my mother and sister. We spent a week there, eating mostly Thai food and enjoying ice creams and before we knew it it was time to drive back to Vancouver.

Back in Vancouver I was reunited with my cat Ricky, Mexican food and my very good friend Chris moved to Vancouver to work at SFU.

I'm happy to say that I was able to find work a week after searching. I decided to see if I would be able to go back to my old job and they were able to hire me in the same position I left but on a different shift. I was able to keep my old wage so I was very happy not to have to start at the bottom and have to work my way up. I was hired on May 4th and started work May 5th. I work Monday to Fridays which is great and allows me to have the weekends off.

My mother worked up North of Fort McMurray and there has been a terrible forest fire that destroyed the city. She was able to get out and fly to Vancouver on the 6th. We were very worried about her being up there so were very happy to have her be able to get out of there. We enjoyed a nice breakfast at Angelina's in New Westminster before sending her off on Pacific Coastal to fly up to Powell River.

I attended a Vancouver Whitecaps FC match against Portland Timbers at BC Place with Shawn, Jordan and Carol. The Whitecaps won and it was a really good match. It was nice to sing and clap along with the rest of the fans.

I spent yesterday with Chris and Shawn wandering Main Street. We walked down to Cartems Donuterie and enjoyed the rootbeer and watermelon doughnuts. They were very delicious and we shared them between me and Shawn. We walked up to Welk's and did a bit of shopping. I picked up a journal and a few lip balms. I am going to try hard to keep up a diary/journal/written account of what I get up to. We stopped at Bob Likes Thai Food for lunch and I had a Thai iced tea and the Red Duck Curry which was delicious and very filling. We were stuffed so I am looking forward to having those for left overs.

Back in Liverpool

I'm back in Liverpool after an amazing month away. I was able to visit my father in Calgary for a few days before flying to Vancouver and attending the wedding of one of my best friends. Two weeks later I was again on a plane heading for my home town of Powell River. I spent a week there, visiting family and camping.

I am going to try and make some posts about my travels to Canada and try and catch up on some other travel posts I have in progress. My laptop had been behaving badly but right now it seems to be alright so I hope that it continues to be alright.

I did not make any posts on my blog while I was gone as I was just so busy with friends and adventures. I'm not sure very many people read my blog but I would like to give posts for you all to read whenever you tune into it.

A snowy Saturday

February 22
My Saturday started early. A bit too early. I woke up around 5:30 am. Not having gotten much rest having got home at midnight and no longer could sleep. I debated going downtown to the travel expo and decided that I would go. On a little solo adventure downtown. I got ready and prepared to leave and thats when I found out that sometime during the night it decided to snow.

The weekend of fun

This weekend was pretty darn awesome and I was quite busy. I love being busy and I love when it involves my friends. Also helped that most of this weekend involved amazing food.

On Friday I went to Chongqing on Commercial with Jon, Michelle and Shawn. We shared some delicious peanut butter wontons. Okay, they aren't actually called that but thats what I call them and thats what matters. We had some spicy fried green beans, chicken chow mein, and some chinese broccoli. All so delicious.

My peanut butter wonton.

Saturday was a super fun day downtown by the art gallery where Earlin, Jon, Sondra, Dan and I took in the Dine Out Food Trucks that were set up. There was some amazing looking food happening.

The Baja Fish Taco from Tacofino. I also had their Chocolate Diablo cookie which was so amazing. Wish I had bought a dozen.
We enjoyed the Dougie Dog truck where I tried the Charlie Mac Dog and the LA Mexicana Dog. Jon and Earlin happily posing for me.
The homemade Butterscotch Rootbeer from Dougie Dog, so good!
My LA Mexicana Dog, I loved the spicy sausage, jalapenos, guacomole and the bacon.
Earlin, Jon, Sondra and Dan. My fellow food adventurers.
As part of the Hot Chocolate Festival happening in Vancouver we enjoyed the Peppermint patty from Bel Cafe. It was very tasty but very rich. It came with a really yummy cookie.

On Sunday I attended a very lovely brunch at my coworker's Jess' place. She fed us a delicious breakfast of bacon, pancakes, eggs and sausages. It was all so good.
My other coworker Michelle was there as well and after brunch we painted our nails. Which is always a lot of fun. Jess and her roommate have a lot of nail polish. Like A LOT.

I had a really great weekend and was very happy that I was bale to spend so much time with my friends. I am very excited as I learned that Jess is going to be travelling to Spain in a few months and I hope to plan some time to spend with her travelling somewhere.

48 days left.
