Sunday Recap: December 14 2014

This week was full of early starts and lots of customers.  Christmas is soon upon us and I'll be happy when it's come and gone. We've had Christmas jumper this week and I happily sported my Elf jumper with pride.

The week seemed to fly by and soon it was Friday. We were heading out for a work night out and it was a lot of fun. I made friends with tequila that night.  I called it quits when I felt I was having too much and headed home.

On Saturday I woke up with no hangover. Lucky me. I headed into town and used my last movie pass to go to Paddington which was a very cute and funny movie. I enjoyed the entire thing so I can only suggest giving it the benefit of the doubt.  After the film, I got a slice of Hawaiian from American Pizza slice before walking to the Walker Art Gallery and enjoying a stroll through the beautiful art.

Sunday, today, has been a bit of a slow start. I had a sleep in and I could not decide whether to make soup or to not make soup. I have decided to postpone that question for tomorrow. Watching Liverpool play away at Manchester United. Hoping for a win.

Liverpool 2009

In March 2009, I journeyed to Europe with my mother. We adventured around the UK, France and Spain. One of my biggest memories was our stop in Liverpool, we arrived the day of the Champions League match against Real Madrid. Our hotel was down the road from Anfield so we spent a lot of time around the stadium and watched the game in a pub.  We ended up staying an extra day so we could check out the stadium tour which I really enjoyed. Touching the 'This is Anfield' sign was a highlight of the tour. I really enjoyed the Walker Art Gallery and the World Museum when we went. There is a lot of the city we missed that I am discovering now on my own. I hope to show my mother and sister the spots I love when they come this March.

Walker Art Gallery

The Walker Art Gallery is my favourite museum in Liverpool. I remember it fondly when I went there with my mother in 2009 so returning to its rooms full of art came with such a happy feeling. The art gallery is lovely with a large number of works as well as a sculpture room. The museum is named after its founding benefactor, Sir Andrew Barclay Walker, a former mayor of Liverpool. The museum is free to enter but they do recommend a donation.

My favourite painting in the museum is the John William Waterhouse's Echo and Narcissus. I do hope I can see more of his paintings in person. It looks like there are a few of them scattered across England.

I fell in love with the above painting 'The Little Foot Page' by Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale.

I can't recall who this painting of Henry VIII is by but it always makes me pinch myself when I see things like this up close. I've always been a fan of history when I was growing up and remember reading all about him and his life.

The photos below are of St. John's Gardens which is across from the Walker Art Gallery and a lovely building against the pretty sky.
